Seeing veterans being honoured and respected here, felt a little bit like Christmas. It filled me with gratitude.
Last night I sat with a patient and we talked about the struggles in his life, about the pain of his childhood about not being acknowledged by his dad, about the shame of being punished and ridiculed in front of his class. We also visited the highlights, the most joyful times in his life. It was a Remembrance Day, revisiting, remembering, acknowledging it all.
